Zeitraum
Zeitraums designs are a tribute to the pure, the purity of the material and the durability of the form. Out of conviction they are committed to acting sustainably and feel obligated to the principle of making products that can be repaired as this is the only way to ensure their longevity over generations. Repair and maintenance deepen the relationship between the person and the product.
Laura Gämmerler & Pedro Sottomayor
After internships with industrial designers Pedro Sottomayor and Raffaella Mangiarotti, Laura Gämmerler pursued a Master's in Spatial Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2022 with a thesis on CLT treehouses. She continued working with Arolla and developed the GEMA lighting family with Sottomayor for ZEITRAUM, focusing on aesthetics and composition. She also began a ceramics course to explore Portugal's tile heritage. Pedro Sottomayor, born in 1973, founded his design office in Lisbon in 2009, focusing on product development and creative direction. Trained in Italy, his notable projects include minimalanimal, Nautilus school furniture, and the Adagio chair. He recently redesigned Lisbon’s café outdoor areas and is collaborating with Sotheby’s International Realty Portugal on office interiors.
